S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass is\u00a0returning to Brazil<\/a> next September to launch a museum devoted to Tutankhamun, the pharaoh who ruled over Egypt from 1,334 to 1,325 BC. On the 6th<\/sup>, Hawass will deliver a lecture about that period. The 7th<\/sup> will see The Golden Boy-King: Tutankhamun<\/em><\/a> museum (pictured above in an artist’s rendering<\/em>) open to visitors.<\/p>\n

A specialist in the pharaoh\u2019s history, Hawass served as consultant and created the concept for the new museum, which is set with Curitiba\u2019s Bosque Rosacruz (the Rosicrucian Garden), c complex devoted to Egyptian history. The area is managed by the Ancient and Mystical Rosicrucian Order (AMORC). It\u2019s also home to the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum and the Luxor Complex, which is a sort of outdoor museum.<\/p>\n

The Rosicrucian Order and the Egyptian archaeologist partnered up for the first time in late 2018, as Hawass delivered a series of lectures in Brazil, as previously reported by ANBA<\/a>. Seventy items were brought in straight from Cairo, Egypt for the new venue. Created by Egypt\u2019s Supreme Council of Antiquities, the items are faithful replicas of originals found in the tomb of Tutankhamun\u2019s upon its discovery in 1922.<\/p>\n

\u201cBasically, the entire collection came from Cairo. The museum\u2019s ground floor will focus on the tomb\u2019s discovery and on Tutankhamun as the king of Egypt. the second storey will revolve around the Egyptian view of death, and the death and burial o the king,\u201d Bosque Rosacruz cultural supervisor Vivian Tedardi told ANBA.<\/p>\n

The museum was designed by Italian company Laboratorio Rosso, including venue concept and design, graphic design, and audiovisual material production. The contents, including a video portraying the pharaoh\u2019s mummy with amulets and their purposes, are the outcome of medical research, of theories and facts about the life and death of Tutankhamun, all done with input from Hawass. \u201cEveryone [the museum staff] is really motivated, because the Golden Boy-King: Tutankhamun<\/em> museum is a new way of spreading the word about the history of Ancient Egypt,\u201d said Tedardi.<\/p>\n

Aside from attending the museum launch, Zahi Hawass will also deliver an eponymous lecture, September 6, 7 pm at the Rosicrucian Order. Tickets are BRL 200 (full) and BRL 100 (half-price). An online live broadcast will be available for BRL 50. Afterwards, Hawass is releasing the first Brazilian Portuguese translation of his book Mountains of the Pharaohs<\/em>, including a signing session.<\/p>\n
