{"id":255329,"date":"2019-08-23T10:54:48","date_gmt":"2019-08-23T13:54:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=255329"},"modified":"2019-08-23T12:39:08","modified_gmt":"2019-08-23T15:39:08","slug":"samba-school-parades-for-lebanese-descendants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/samba-school-parades-for-lebanese-descendants\/","title":{"rendered":"Samba school parades for Lebanese descendants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Samba school <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ImperioSP\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Imp\u00e9rio da Casa Verde<\/em><\/a> performed its <a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/lebanon-to-be-theme-of-carnaval-tune\/\">Lebanon-themed 2020 parade<\/a> on Thursday (22) before the community of Lebanese expatriates and descendants in Brazil, at an event highlighting the <em>Carnaval<\/em> at S\u00e3o Paulo\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/caml.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clube Atl\u00e9tico Monte L\u00edbano<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The festive evening (<em>pictured above<\/em>) featured an amalgamation of Lebanese festivities and Brazilian <em>Carnaval<\/em>, featuring percussionists and Arab musicians, female Arab folk and samba dancers. In attendance were Lebanese businesspersons, <em>Imp\u00e9rio da Casa Verde<\/em> percussion section queen Valeska Reis and recently announced godmother Theba Pitylla, and other guests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the fulfilling of a dream for the Lebanese community to be able to bring a bit of the joy and culture of Lebanese people into the biggest popular festivity in Brazil,\u201d an Imp\u00e9rio da Casa Verde press release quoted event hosts, journalist Beto Saad and businessman Miled Khoury \u2013 the liaisons between the samba school and the Lebanese community \u2013 as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Theme song <em>Marhaba Lubn\u00e3n<\/em> \u2013 Arabic for \u2018Hello, Lebanon\u2019 \u2013 was made public in early June. Early into this year, the samba school\u2019s parade designer Fl\u00e1vio Campello travelled to Lebanon to do research. The school then briefed its composers, who produced twelve songs. Five of them were shortlisted into the semifinals.
