The news is from the Egyptian newspaper <a href=\"http:\/\/english.ahram.org.eg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Al-Ahram<\/em><\/a>. Within the African continent, Egypt is on top with 46 projects, followed by Algeria with 32 projects, and then Morocco with 15 projects.<\/p>\n<p>The report said the North African countries Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, South Sudan, Sudan, Tunisia, and Western Sahara executed 109 projects last year at a total value of USD 148.3 billion. The region accounts for 22.6% of projects on the continent and 31.5% in terms of US dollar value. The number of projects in North Africa increased by 172.5%, while the value of projects increased by 92.3%.<\/p>\n<p>Egypt\u2019s projects account for 9.5% of projects on the continent \u2013 at a value of USD 79.2 billion, which represents 17% of the total, edging out South Africa and Nigeria respectively. Egypt is building a new administrative capital. The North Africa region witnessed the largest change in the number of projects, with 69 new projects last year. In 2017, it counted 40 projects.<\/p>\n<p>In Africa, the greatest number of projects fell into the transport sector, representing 38.6%, followed by real estate with 22.8%, energy and power with 13.7%, and shipping and ports with 7.5.<\/p>\n<p>African governments continued to be the main owners, the report state, with 364 projects, 75.5%, while the private sector owned 9.3% of the projects.
