The rate is lower than July\u2019s 0.19% but higher than the 0.09% deflation from a year ago. As per figures reported by Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), IPCA sees an inflation of 2.54% year-to-date and 3.43% in the 12 months through August.<\/p>\n<p>The decline from July to August was driven mainly by the deflation in food (-0.35%) and transport (-0.39%) expense groups. Out of the foodstuff, the highest price falls were seen at tomato (-24.49%), potato (-9.11%), greens (-6.53%) and meats (-0.75%). In transports, there was price drops in airline tickets (-15.65%), gas (-0.45%), and diesel oil (-0.76%).<\/p>\n<p>Another group that saw deflation was healthcare and personal care (-0.03).
