S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Egyptian textile items are on display at Gotex Show<\/a> \u2013 International Textile Expo, from September 10 to 12 at Expo Center Norte, in S\u00e3o Paulo. The Egyptian participation is organized by the Commercial Office of the Embassy of Egypt in Brazil, whose stand features samples and product portfolios.<\/p>\n

Items on offer include clothing and carpets from EG Gate; synthetic yarn from Oscar; cotton underwear from Embrator; yarn and fabric from Lotas<\/a>; carpets from Oriental Weavers; textiles from Nile Trading; plastic table covers from Makkah for Plastics; and handwoven and Kilim carpets from Kerdasah Company.<\/p>\n

Egyptian textile brands are on display at stand<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u201cThis participation comes at a very important stage in Egypt-Brazil trade relations, since we entered the third year of the Egypt-Mercosur free trade agreement a few days ago,\u201d Egypt\u2019s commercial consul to S\u00e3o Paulo, Mohamed Elkhatib (pictured), told ANBA. The agreement became effective on September 1, 2017, and many of the products traded between the parties are already fully or partially tax-exempt.<\/p>\n

According to ElKhatib, last year\u2019s Gotex Show created many business opportunities and enabled export opportunities worth USD 10 million for Egyptian players. The consul expects USD 20 million in deals to come to fruition this year.<\/p>\n

El Khatib explains that textiles and clothing are flagship export products in Egypt, especially with Brazil as a destination. \u201cEgyptian cotton has a great reputation in the Brazilian market,\u201d the consul said. The product is known around the world for its quality, and items made from it enjoy high-end status om international markets.<\/p>\n

Company Lotas\u2019 business includes importing goods from Egypt to distribute in Brazil. The company was also in the Egyptian area at the 2018 edition of Gotex. \u201cEgyptian cotton is very famous, so by getting some more exposure we can give our products more visibility,\u201d said sales manager Vasni Mantovani.<\/p>\n

Lotas is showcasing fabric by brand Nasser Tex and yarn by companies Mediterranean, Egyptian Spinning & Weaving, Egyarn, and Miratex. According to Mantovani, the yarn is intended for weaving, textiles, sewing, and kite manufacturing. Fabric by Nasser Tex is intended for fine shirt making. The brands are showcasing their newest products at Gotex.<\/p>\n

Gotex was created in 2013 and is held annually ever since, getting retailers, textile manufacturers, and self-employed professionals and new suppliers together. Local and international exhibitors and visitors attend.\u00a0 Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0director William Atui visited Gotex on the opening day, alongside sales executive Alberto Salgueiro.<\/p>\n
