S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The opening panel of the 11th<\/sup> edition of international book festival Tarrafa Liter\u00e1ria (tarrafa<\/em> is a kind of fishing net), at 5pm on Thursday (26), will be themed Fiction in Arab Veins<\/em>. It will feature the Brazilian-born Lebanese descendant writers Cristina Judar and Marcelo Maluf<\/a>, with moderation by Ademir Demarchi at Teatro Guarany in Santos, on the S\u00e3o Paulo coast. The event will run from the 25th<\/sup> to the 29th<\/sup>. For the second year straight, the festival relies on the support of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong><\/a>. All panels will be held at Teatro Guarany. An opening concert at Sesc Santos in the evening of the 25th<\/sup> will see the Jo\u00e3o Rubinato group pay tribute to Adoniran Barbosa and Osvaldo Moles. \u201cOsvaldo Moles was the premier lyricist for Adoniran Barbosa. He wrote [the song] Tiro ao \u00c1lvaro<\/em>. He was also a chronicler, radio DJ, and a comic. He was born and raised in Santos, and he is being honored in this edition,\u201d bookseller, publisher and event organizer Jos\u00e9 Luiz Tahan told ANBA.<\/p>\n

The Friday (27) highlight is the 7pm panel, Women on a Hot Night<\/em>, with writers Jarid Arraes and Preta Rara and moderator Simone Batista.<\/p>\n

At 7pm on Saturday, the panel Oceans in the Tarrafa Award, Sustenance of Boys and Men Show <\/em>will feature J\u00e9 Oliveira and the Farinha com A\u00e7\u00facar band. Oliveira is in the semifinals for an award devoted to literary creations in Portuguese language, and his book Farinha com a\u00e7\u00facar ou sobre a sustan\u00e7a de meninos e homens<\/em> has been made into a theater play and a concert.<\/p>\n

On Sunday (29), the panel The Chronicler in Me<\/em> will feature writers Pedro Mexia of Portugal and C\u00e1ssio Zanatta of Brazil, with moderation by Jorge Oliveira. The panel will happen again at S\u00e3o Paulo bookstore Livraria da Vila-Fradique Coutinho at 7pm on October 1. \u201cPeople really identify with the chronicles. It\u2019s a literary style that opens many windows of thinking,\u201d said Tahan. The Consulate of Portugal in S\u00e3o Paulo also supports the Tarrafa festival.<\/p>\n
