Year-to-date, industry recovered itself from a 0.9% drop from May to July. The numbers are from the monthly industrial survey made public this Tuesday (1st) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).<\/p>\n<p>Despite the increment from July, industry saw decreases of 2.3% year-on-year and 1.7% year-to-date from a year ago and in the twelve months through August.<\/p>\n<p>The increment in August from July was driven by an 1.4% hike in intermediate goods (industrialized inputs used in manufacturing).<\/p>\n<p>Out of the 26 activities surveyed, only ten saw increases and supported the average industry growth, particularly extractive industries, which grew 6.6% in August from July.
