S\u00e3o Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong><\/a> is at the 16th<\/sup> International Administration Forum, which kicked off Tuesday in Palmas, Tocantins. Chamber presidente Rubens Hannun (pictured) will deliver the lecture \u201cThe leadership strategy of Arab countries,\u201d this Wednesday (2) at 5pm. This edition of the forum is themed \u201cEntrepreneurial leadership,\u201d and the event, which ends on Thursday, is designed to encourage deal-making in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll explain some of the Arab Chamber\u2019s work as an institution which promotes Brazilian-Arab relations, what we are doing to foster leadership, and the challenges we must overcome,\u201d said Hannun. Crisis management actions, like the one during (the Brazilian federal police\u2019s) 2017 Operation Weak Flesh<\/a>, the prospect of Brazil moving its Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem during the 2018 presidential election, and Agriculture minister Tereza Cristina\u2019s tour of Arab countries<\/a> last month were mentioned by the president.<\/p>\n

\u201cOurs is a policy of being present all over Brazil, and that includes discussing the Arab countries in different states,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Brazil\u2019s vice president Hamilton Mour\u00e3o will deliver the keynote address this Tuesday afternoon. Also slated tos peak are senator K\u00e1tia Abreu; Tocantins Administration secretary Edson Cabral de Oliveira; Latin American Administration Organization (OLA) president H\u00e9ctor F\u00e9lix Stoppini, from Argentina; the administration officer in charge of Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Fernando Pessoa in Porto, Portugal, Miguel Trigo; and others. The forum is held by the Regional Administration Councils of Tocantins (CRA-TO) and the Federal District (CRA-DF), in partnership with the Federal Administration Council (CFA). It\u2019s taking place at the Arnoud Rodrigues Convention Center, in Parque do Povo, Palmas.<\/p>\n

Some 1,000 people are expected to attend each day, including professionals in public and private administration, students and professors, businesspeople and entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

The International Administration Forum is in its 30th<\/sup> year. The first edition took place in Porto Alegre (RS), 1989. The event has been held in different capitals and cities throughout Brazil since.<\/p>\n

Numbers<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the Arab Chamber Intelligence Department, USD 6.24 billion in goods were exported from Tocantins year-to-date through August this year, USD 491 million of which went to Arab countries. The state imported USD 1.275 billion in products, USD 45.5 million of which were sourced from Arab countries. The 22 Arab countries combined rank third among the state\u2019s biggest trading partners, trailing China and Spain. Saudi Arabia and Egypt are some of the main export destinations. Tocantins exports mostly soy, beef, leather maize. From Arab countries, it imports primarily fertilizers, fuel and oil products.<\/p>\n
