S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/a><\/strong> Institutional Relations manager (pictured<\/em>) will give a lecture called \u201cSmart cities in the Arab world \u2013 Overview and perspectives\u201d on October 17 at 7:15 pm at the University of Vale do Itaja\u00ed (Univali<\/a>) in Santa Catarina, Brazil. The activity is part of the Foreign Trade, Port Management and Logistics Symposium at the university. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea of smart cities goes beyond technology and artificial intelligence. It covers people management, urbanism, power, water and waste management, waste, security, and other aspects,\u201d Fernanda explained to ANBA.<\/p>\n

She will talk about Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Marrakesh and Casablanca, Morocco, and the city of Neom<\/a>, which is under construction in Saudi Arabia. \u201cWe want to demystify the Arab countries, show that, in addition to being large importers, especially of foodstuffs \u2013 and that the Arab countries of the Gulf are major investors \u2013 they are countries that have engaged a lot in current issues of artificial intelligence and smart cities,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said that the Arab countries have relied heavily in technology to work on public management in a strategic manner, using renewable energies, material and services, focusing on both economic development and improved quality of life.<\/p>\n

\u201cMorocco has worked with Europe to become a hub not just of products and services but a reference on clean energy, improved public management, and economic development; the country wants to be a major player in Africa. France and Spain support and have smart city models,\u201d Fernanda said.<\/p>\n

The concept of a smart city, she says, cover the people management and their interaction with energy and other services aimed at fostering an economic development focused on improving the quality of people\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

Neom<\/a> is a planned city and economic zone of 26,500 sq. km that is under construction in the border between Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt. The city of Neom is a paradigm shift in a country that just two years ago was extremely closed and has opened up since. It has an extremely young population with money to spend. Its decision-makers are internationalized and open-minded, and there\u2019s a need to keep these talents, attract manpower, international companies , and these large companies want to be in places with a high quality of life,\u201d the manager stressed.<\/p>\n

The event is hosted by the Business School of Univali and aims to assist in the participant\u2019s professional performance, considering the needs of the modern context of the organizations and the needs of innovative logistics solutions. The symposium will bring together scholars, professors and professionals.<\/p>\n

Next Wednesday (16), Ambev Santa Catarina trade manager Rafael Bez Batti Maldonado will kickstart the event with a lecture called \u201cHow to captivate clients in the logistics world,\u201d also at 7:15 pm.<\/p>\n
