S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazil\u2019s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), measure of the market value of all the goods and services produced in the country, was up 0.6% in the three months through August 2019 from the three months through May, as per think tank Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Getulio Vargas (FGV)\u2019s GDP Monitor released this Wednesday (16).<\/p>\n

In the three months through August from a year ago, GDP slid by 0.3%. In August alone, GDP was up 0.9% from last July and 0.2% from August 2018.<\/p>\n

The 0.6% hike through August over the three months through May was driven by services, up 0.4%, industry, up 0.2%, and agriculture, up 2.4%.<\/p>\n

On the demand side, household consumption picked up by 0.7%, with gross fixed capital formation (investment) going up 3%. Government consumption slid 0.1% and exports were down 5.2%. Imports grew by 2.9%.<\/p>\n
