S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Federation of Muslim Associations in Brazil (Fambras) is hosting the last Solidarity Islam of the year at CEU Caminho do Mar in Jabaquara, S\u00e3o Paulo next December 1st<\/sup>. The event features everything from medical attention to entertainment for low-income citizens.<\/p>\n

Fambras hosts several editions of the event each year. This year has seen iterations in Parelheiros and the Tenond\u00e9-Por\u00e3<\/a> indigenous village, in the far south of S\u00e3o Paulo, and in downtown neighborhood Pari, in partnership with the League of the Islamic Charitable Youth of Brazil, catering to refugees and area residents.<\/p>\n

The final edition of 2019 will run from 10am to 3pm, with tests including hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol and hepatitis C. Also available will be guidance on dental care and breast cancer prevention \u2013 women will get taught to do the self-exam.<\/p>\n

Eye examinations will also be available, and passes will be given out for highly sought-after eyeglass donations, which draw the most people to the event, as previously reported by ANBA<\/a>. A partnership with the S\u00e3o Paulo State Government has also enabled DNA tests and birth, marriage and death certificate reissues.<\/p>\n

A mobile unit from the Municipal Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship\u2019s immigrant care center (Centro de Refer\u00eancia e Atendimento para Imigrantes – CRAI) will also be onsite, providing services including guidance on regularization of migrant status, Brazilian documentation and how to open bank accounts, simple document translations, referrals for treatment, education and social assistance, access to labor and income, college education, Portuguese courses, and trade courses.<\/p>\n

Solidarity Islam also provides aesthetics treatments including haircuts, facial cleansing quick massage. Attractions for kids include inflatable rides, popcorn and cotton candy, comic books, and 3,000 toys. Cultural attractions will include capoeira performances, a Tenond\u00e9 Por\u00e3 choir, and a choir from Col\u00e9gio 24 de mar\u00e7o, a school that\u2019s partners for the event, plus a graffiti workshop.<\/p>\n
