S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Last Thursday night (28), the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in S\u00e3o Paulo celebrated the country’s 48th anniversary. The national day was marked by a dinner at Tivoli Mofarrej hotel in S\u00e3o Paulo, featuring diplomats and authorities, including the governor of the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, Jo\u00e3o Doria.<\/p>\n

Doria talked about the office that he\u2019ll open in Dubai<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The national day marks the UAE’s Union Day on December 2, 1971 between Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ra’s Al- Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm Al-Quawain.<\/p>\n

According to the consulate, Jo\u00e3o Doria talked about the trade office<\/a> that the government of the state plans to open in Dubai. Doria said he\u2019ll visit the country in February 2020 to open the space.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, the UAE consul Ibrahim Salem Alalawi stressed the relations between the state of S\u00e3o Paulo and the Arab country. He also emphasized the anticipation for Expo Dubai 2020, a world exhibition to run in the emirate starting on next October.<\/p>\n

The expo occurs every five years and this is the first time it\u2019ll be held in the Middle East. Dubai<\/a> expects to receive 25 million visitors, being 70% foreigners. Brazil\u2019s space at the exhibition will be inside the Sustainability Pavilion.<\/p>\n

The event featured the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/a><\/strong> director S\u00edlvia Antibas, treasurer director Nahid Chicani, directors William Atui and Mohamad Abdouni, Marketing manager Karina Cassapula, and Federation of Muslim Associations in Brazil (Fambras) vice president Ali Hussein El Zoghbi as well as politicians and other personalities.<\/p>\n
