The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zawyacinema.com\/event\/view\/63\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brazilian Film Week<\/a> is hosted by the Embassy of Brazil in Cairo and Zawya, featuring classics and recent award-winning flicks. Ticket reservations are available.<\/p>\n<p>Eleven Brazilian-made or coproduced movies will be featured. The event opens Monday at 7pm with <em>Invisible Life<\/em>, from 2019 (English subtitles): 80-year-old Eur\u00eddice is surprised by old letters from her long-missing sister Guida. The siblings, who were mercilessly torn apart, try to fight society in this motion picture by <a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/proximo-filme-de-karim-ainouz-e-documentario-sobre-argelia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Karim A\u00efnouz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The film is the Brazilian nominee for Best International Film at the 2020 Academy Awards, and it also got a nomination for the Spirit Awards \u2013 known as the Oscar of independent film. Based on the book <em>The Invisible Life of Eur\u00eddice Gusm\u00e3o<\/em>, by Martha Batalha, it won the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes this year, and features star actress Fernanda Montenegro.<\/p>\n<p>The Film Week will also feature <em>Something Like That<\/em>, a 2018 Brazilian-Uruguayan production directed by Esmir Filho that tells the story of Caio and Mari, two young people who go out on the streets of S\u00e3o Paulo and end up learning about themselves. The movie shows on Saturday 14<sup>th<\/sup> at 7pm (English subtitles).<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Loveling<\/span><\/em>, by Gustavo Pizzi, features Irene, who has a few days to overcome anxiety from seeing her eldest son move to Germany. Another Brazilian-Uruguayan production, the film will show on Thursday 12<sup>th<\/sup> at 7pm (English subtitles).<\/p>\n<p><em>Hour of the Star<\/em> features Macab\u00e9a, who just moved to the big city after the death of the aunt who raised her. She finds work as a typist and a place to live in a boarding house with other women. Based on a book by Clarice Lispector, this 1985 film is slated for screening on Sunday 15<sup>th <\/sup>(English subtitles).<\/p>\n<p>Another throwback to the 1980s, <em>Twenty Years Later<\/em> is a documentary about the making of \u201cCabra Marcado para Morrer,\u201d whose production was banned by the dictatorship regime because it told the story of peasant leader Jo\u00e3o Pedro Teixeira.
