The number of Brazilians who spent a single day in Jordan increased by 181%, while those who spent one or more nights climbed 105%. Having travelers spend more than just a day in the Arab country had been one of the GVA\u2019s goals since it got appointed to promote the <a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/jordan-expects-10-hike-in-brazilian-tourist-numbers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">destination<\/a> in Brazil in the beginning of this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore and more, we are showcasing a wide range of attractions, including history and culture and the unique natural beauty of Jordan. People aren\u2019t just taking quick trips to see Petra; many travelers are choosing to stay longer and explore other locations. Proof of this is such a big hike in overnight stays,\u201d a press release quoted GVA director Gisele Abrah\u00e3o as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Brazilian tourist numbers were also up 78% year-to-date through September, according to Jordan\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mota.gov.jo\/Contents\/stat2019_3rd.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/petra-the-city-of-ancient-arabs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Petra<\/a> (<em>pictured above<\/em>), for instance, welcomed 10,000 Brazilian visitors through September, up 60% from 6,242 through September 2018. Abrah\u00e3o said the city remains a key destination because apart from its best-known landmark \u2013 The Treasury \u2013, Petra features other ancient buildings that require at least two days to be seen.
