Twenty professors will be selected to teach at 20 universities in 19 countries, via scholarships paid for by the Brazilian government. One of the seats is at the Lebanese University in Beirut. Entries are available online until January 30, and results will be made public in July 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements from the Lebanese University include a master\u2019s degree, and preferably a doctorate as well; experience teaching Portuguese to non-Brazilians; and fluent English skills; French is desirable. The position involves teaching Portuguese as a foreign language in basic, intermediate and advanced levels; creating a master\u2019s course in Portuguese language; overseeing cultural events; involvement in academic research; and supervising master\u2019s dissertations.<\/p>\n<p>The university will provide accommodations in a furnished on-campus apartment; access to teaching and research facilities and to the university library; and proceedings for the applicable visa. Brazil\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide a monthly stipend of USD 2,000. Established 1951, the Lebanese University (LU) is the only state-run higher education institution in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Seats are also available at universities in Bolivia, Chile, Guinea Bissau, South Korea, Mexico, France, Israel, India, Spain, Japan, Ecuador, Finland, Angola, Peru, United States, China, United Kingdom and Hungary. There is one available seat in each country, except for the United States, with openings at University of Pittsburgh and the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Its individual scholarships also cover Brazilian culture, literature and studies.<\/p>\n<p>Scholarships last two years each, extendable for another two \u2013 except in the United Kingdom, where no extensions are allowed. Registrations with CAPES are free of charge and available exclusively online.
