The information is from TAP news agency. On December 20, Tourism minister René Trabelsi had already announced that Tunisia had met the 9-million-tourist goal set for 2019.

According to TAP, the growth was driven by a 15.9% increase in the number of European tourists, which reached 2.8 million. And visitors from other Maghreb countries climbed by 15.5%, to 4.9 million.

The Arab Maghreb is made up by Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya and Mauritania. Algerians were the top visitors to the region, followed by Libyans.
