S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Cultures of the World Meeting is an event that has for 20 years aimed at disseminating and celebrating the cultural diversity in all its forms, with music, dance and ancient body and meditation practices. This year\u2019s edition<\/a> will run from January 24 to 26 at the Espa\u00e7o Cultural Tangar\u00e1 Mirim<\/a> in Imbassa\u00ed, Bahia and feature the Aissawa music group led by Said Guissi from Fez, Morocco.<\/p>\n

Aissawa group participates in the event for the second time<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The performance is characterized by the simultaneous use of wind and percussion instruments at a rhythm accompanied by chants and dances that constitute the Sufi sacred dance. It\u2019s the second time the group participates in the cultures meeting. Aissawa is a mystical and religious brotherhood founded in Morocco around 500 years ago by Muhammad Ben A\u00efssa.<\/p>\n

The meeting will also hold experiences with Indigenous ethnic groups Kayap\u00f3 Mebengokre, Pankararu, Potiguara and Alto Xingu, as well as Mindfulness practices, a meditation practice that develops the ability to focus one\u2019s attention in the present.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Cultures Meeting is an opportunity to treasure the ancient knowledge and wisdom of native peoples and emphasize the interaction with diversity and the exercise of empathy, Glaucia Rodrigues, director of the non-profit organization Centro de Estudos Universais AUM<\/a> that organizes the event, was quoted as saying in a press release.<\/p>\n

Culture and art of Indigenous peoples are also part of the program<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The event is organized in partnership with Casa de Cultura Cavaleiro de Jorge e Aldeia Multi\u00e9tnica, a project that fosters exchanges and brings together Indigenous peoples to strengthen their individual cultures and shared struggles.<\/p>\n

The program also features forums and lectures on Astrology, Education for Peace, Cosmology, and Intercultural Philosophy, regional dance and music performances and workshops, a photo exhibition by Rog\u00e9rio Ferrari on the resistance of Bahia\u2019s native peoples, a Solidary Economy Fair with traditional foodstuffs and products, a workshop on Paneurhythmy (a circular dance composed of exercises that stimulate the body\u2019s spiritual cells to expand the individual and collective consciousness) and a special performance by Orquestra Jovem do Conservat\u00f3rio de M\u00fasica de Mata de S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o.<\/p>\n
