The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.agricultura.gov.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MAPA<\/a>) reported that the value is a record high for the historical series started in 1989, surpassing 2017 VBP at BRL 627.1 billion (USD 151.3 billion). Crops in general were down 0.5%.<\/p>\n<p>For the ministry, the main growth drivers include the increase in foreign sales, which was heavily impacted <a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/chinese-push-drives-up-beef-export-price\/\">in late 2019<\/a> by the livestock hike \u2013 highlights are beef, pork and poultry exports growth as well as the increase in domestic egg consumption<\/p>\n<p>The indicators of crop and agricultural prices show preliminary estimates of 2020 gross agricultural production value at BRL 674.8 billion (USD 162.8 billion), up 7% from 2019.
