S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Jordan received 18,654 Brazilian tourists over 2019, up 49.9% from 2018. Last year, Brazilian overnight visitors reached 5,487, up 91% year on year.<\/p>\n
Although same day visitorss have nearly doubled, tourists that stayed overnight are the majority of Brazilians that went there, reaching 13.167 in 2019, up 37% from the previous year. The figures were made public by GVA, the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB<\/a>) marketing and communication company in Brazil.<\/p>\n GVA director Gisele Abrah\u00e3o was quoted as saying in a press release that \u201cthis is an important sign for us, as it shows that Brazilians are looking to discover more and more of the possibilities and experiences the country offers, as well as same-day visits to Petra<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n The executive, who has been in Jordan more than 80 times, believes that the destination safety is a factor when Brazilians choose it. \u201cIt\u2019s important to stress that Jordan has always been a peaceful, safe territory. Brazilians are always welcomed in the destination,\u201d she pointed out.<\/p>\n Overall, Jordan received 5,360,587 tourists in 2019, up 8.9% from 2018. Overnight visitors were also the majority, at 4,488,407 people, up 8% year on year. Same-day tourists reached 872,180, up 13% from the previous year.<\/p>\n Besides Petra, GVA has worked on other itineraries to explore the country, including Wadi Rum desert.
