{"id":266383,"date":"2020-01-23T14:41:30","date_gmt":"2020-01-23T17:41:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=266383"},"modified":"2020-01-23T15:04:12","modified_gmt":"2020-01-23T18:04:12","slug":"motorcycle-industry-expects-a-6-increase-in-output","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/motorcycle-industry-expects-a-6-increase-in-output\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorcycle industry expects a 6% increase in output"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Brazilian Motorcycle, Moped and Bicycle Manufacturers Association (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abraciclo.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abraciclo<\/a>) expects a production of 1,175,000 motorcycles this year, up 6.1% from a year ago, which saw 1,107,758 units produced.<\/p>\n<p>Abraciclo expects a 27.5% in exports, from 38,614 to 28,000 units. According to Abraciclo president Marcos Fermanian, what explains the decrease in exports is the \u201cdeteriorating\u201d economic scenario in countries that have established themselves as Brazilian motorcycle consumers, particularly Argentina.<\/p>\n<p>Under the current circumstances, last year Argentina posted a 60% decrease in the volume of imported motorcycles from Brazil. As for exports to the United States, the second largest market, they widened by 25.5%. Brazil is the world\u2019s eighth largest manufacturer. \u201cMost of [2019] production was for the domestic market,\u201d said Fermanian.<\/p>\n<p>Abraciclo reported that the industry expects a 5.8% increase in the motorcycle retail. The percentage draws near to the wholesale estimate \u2013 5.7%. These indicators are well below 2019 figures, which stood at 14.6% and 13.2% respectively. The country\u2019s motorcycle fleet is 28 million units.<\/p>\n<p>Fermanian said that last year&#8217;s figures \u201cencourage a more optimistic view for 2020,\u201d but stressed that it cannot be guaranteed that reality meets performance expectations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bicycles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a press conference, Abraciclo also presented the figures on bicycle output and consumption. The prediction is that manufacturers produce 987,000 units in 2020.
