S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Libyan importer Milad Mosbah Elbriki had a series of meetings in Brazil in search of business opportunities. Supported by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/a><\/strong>, Elbriki scheduled appointments with Brazilian companies of different sectors from last week through Wednesday (29). He hasn\u2019t imported any product from Brazil yet, and this was his first time in the country.<\/p>\n

The businessman is a civil engineer and owns AGC, a consulting and construction group based in Libya, which owns other tow importing and construction companies. In this sector, he met with brands such as Krona, which specializes in pipes and fittings, and Docol, a manufacturer of sanitary metals such as faucets and showers.<\/p>\n

Elkribi also imports products of several other sectors such as food. In this sector, he visited Pandurata (pictured above<\/em>), a company that owns brands such as Bauducco and Visconti. Elbriki is now negotiating to become Visconti\u2019s representation in Libya.<\/p>\n

The Libyan also showed interest in brands such as Yp\u00ea of hygiene and cleaning products, and household products, including Tramontina. \u201cI travel in search of opportunities. Here in Brazil the Arab Chamber helped me organizing meetings, and I established connections with companies of different sectors,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

The Arab wants to create private label products to fill major gaps in his country\u2019s market. \u201cIn Libya, one Italian company rules the coffee industry. I found out that 60% of this brand\u2019s beans come from Brazil,\u201d he said. This made him curious, and he decided to seek out the raw material in Brazil for a brand he intends to launch in his country. He has already established connections with Santa M\u00f4nica, Stefenoni and Altin\u00f3polis companies, and has been negotiating with them. \u201cI\u2019m seeking out the best companies to take back a high-quality coffee to my country. First, I want to buy [the Brazilian brand] and then, a month or a year from now, create a brand,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Elbriki is also a director at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli and will return to Brazil in April for an institutional visit. He believes that more awareness should be raised on Brazil\u2019s potential as an exporter to the Arab country. His idea is using his return in April to establish more agreements with the Arab Chamber and even having a purchase representation of the Tripoli Chamber staying in Brazil.<\/p>\n
