The figures refer to both whole and processed poultry products and were released last Thursday (6) by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).<\/p>\n<p>Among the top Arab buyers, Saudi Arabia posted a year-on-year 9% decline in purchases, to 35,150 tonnes. The United Arab Emirates, the second largest buyer in volume, showed the largest decline, at 18% year-on-year, to 21,100 tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Brazil exported 323,800 tonnes in January, up 15% from a year ago. Revenues also increased year-on-year, up 16.5%, to USD 529.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe foreign market remains under pressure, which translates into higher prices than a year ago. The mix of products shipped to more value-added markets such as Japan, China, and European Union also benefited the monthly performance,\u201d ABPA chairman Francisco Turra was quoted as saying in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>China, the top destination of exports from Brazil, accounting for 19.8% of the total, imported 62,700 tonnes in January, up 87% from a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>Another major market, Japan, which accounts for 10% of the exports, purchased 31,900 tonnes, up 17% year-on-year.
