Exports were down 37.2% from January 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Exports dropped due to a spike in domestic demand caused by meat production. \u201cSince poultry meat exports from Brazil went up, Brazil has been prioritizing the breeding of broiler chicks. This was expected as a step to meet domestic and external demand for animal protein,\u201d a press release quoted ABPA executive director Ricardo Santin as saying.<\/p>\n<p>In January, 1,120 tons of hatching eggs were exported from Brazil, down 38.2% year-on-year and grossing USD 4.8 million, down 40.1%.
