{"id":268405,"date":"2020-02-27T17:57:15","date_gmt":"2020-02-27T20:57:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=268405"},"modified":"2020-02-27T18:18:07","modified_gmt":"2020-02-27T21:18:07","slug":"womens-football-league-created-in-saudi-arabia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/womens-football-league-created-in-saudi-arabia\/","title":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s football league created in Saudi Arabia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Saudi sports authorities created the Women\u2019s Football League (WFL), the government-run <a href=\"https:\/\/sportsforall.com.sa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saudi Sports for All Federation<\/a>\u00a0said this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe launch of the [league] bolsters women&#8217;s participation in sports at the community level and will generate increased recognition for women&#8217;s sports achievements,\u201d a press release read.<\/p>\n<p>The winning team will get a SAR 500,000 (USD 133,000) prize. The matches will be played by athletes aged 17 and above in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam. The schedule is not out yet.<\/p>\n<p>The Federation said \u201ctechnical and organizational teams in place to manage the various committees working towards delivering the League\u201d will also be fully female.<\/p>\n<p>This marks a new step forward for Saudi Arabian women, who were first let into football stadiums and sports arenas in January 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The Kingdom is now working to increase women\u2019s engagement with sports.
