From the Newsroom*<\/STRONG><\/P> S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazilian vehicle exports grew 13.1% from January to March this year and reached revenues of US$ 3.24 billion. The figures regarding sector performance were disclosed today (4) by the National Association of Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea). <\/P> According to the chairman at the organisation, Jackson Schneider, heated sales in Latin America helped boost sector foreign sales. He recalled, however, that a large part of this international demand was for agricultural machinery and implements. "It is very focussed," he said.<\/P> In the month of March alone, vehicle exports totalled US$ 1.15 billion. The value represented expansion of 6.6% over February and 3% over the same month last year. In sales on the domestic market, Brazilian carmakers managed, last month, their best result for months of March.<\/P> Sales totalled 232,147 vehicles. The volume was 15.6% greater than in February and 20% greater than in the same month in 2007. From January to March, 648,000 vehicles were sold in the country, 31.4% over the same quarter last year. <\/P> Production of vehicles grew 11% in March over February and 13.4% over the same month last year, with 280,600 units. From January to March, production totalled 783,000 units, 19.3% more than in the first three months of 2007. The March and quarter production figures were historic records for the Brazilian vehicle sector.<\/P> Car prices grew just 1.82% in Brazil in recent months, against inflation of 4.61% in the period.
