The document was issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). It reports still that Saudi women over the age of 15 account for 49% of the total population. Half of Saudi women are under 27 years old.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2018, Saudi Arabia started issuing driver\u2019s licenses for women. By January 2020, 174,624 driving licenses had been issued to the female population. The highest proportion of licenses \u2013 90% \u2013 was issued in Riyadh, Makkah and the Eastern Province. The report highlights that the women\u2019s importance for the country\u2019s development.
