S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazil\u2019s vice president Hamilton Mour\u00e3o will join on Wednesday (13) a webinar hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong>. The online conference \u201cBrazil will run from 11 am until noon, \u201cBrazil and the Arab Countries: enhancing the agenda in the new global scenario.\u201d The webinar will also feature the Arab Chamber\u2019s president Rubens Hannun\u00a0and vice presidents. The webinar discussion will center around how to further strengthen Brazilian-Arab relations in the global context ushered in by coronavirus and in a post-pandemic world. The Arab Chamber is looking to bring government officials and private sector players in Brazil and the Arab countries into the debate. Registration is open, free of charge, and simultaneous translation into English will be available.<\/p>\n

Arab Chamber president Hannun told ANBA that in his latest trip to Arab countries, early this year, as the coronavirus was beginning to spread across the region, he was questioned as to how Brazil would help their country make it through. \u201cThat was a display of how they view Brazil\u2019s role as a leading, frontline country, and proof that they are counting on us,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Hannun argues that the priority given by Brazil to supplying Arab countries during the crisis has buoyed their trust. Existing strategic partnerships and collaborative work have blossomed even further. \u201cWe have already noticed that this boost in relations creates a number of new opportunities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Chamber invited Hamilton Mour\u00e3o for the webinar in a bid to involve the government in devising this tie-building strategy for the novel scenario. \u201cSince we\u2019re getting to speak with Brazil\u2019s government, represented by the vice president, we would like to discuss how we can go about that, which in fact is a continuation of our relations, but this time with new ingredients in the mix,\u201d says Hannun.<\/p>\n

Hannun believes that every player is important in bringing relations forward, from government to the private sector. \u201cWe must play the role of linking up all these players,\u201d he says. The Chamber has held three webinars \u2013 one involving the Legislative Power, on which occasion the Brazil-Arab Countries Parliamentary Group<\/a>; one featuring Brazil\u2019s Agriculture minister Tereza Cristina<\/a>; and one on logistics<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Next Wednesday\u2019s webinar will feature Arab Chamber Administrative vice president Mohamad Orra Mourad, International Relations vice president Osmar Chohfi, Foreign Trade vice president Ruy Carlos Cury, Marketing vice president Riad Naim Younes, and treasurer director Nahid Chicani. They will ask questions and bring up different aspects of Brazilian-Arab relations.<\/p>\n
