S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Beef export revenues were down 9.5% year-on-year in April in Brazil, to USD 578 million. Shipped volume was down 8% to 135,000 tons, the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (Abiec) reported.<\/p>\n

Year-to-date through April saw 548,800 tons shipped, up 1.15%, with revenue climbing 19.11% to USD 2.42 billion year-over-year.<\/p>\n

Three out of the ten biggest markets for Brazilian beef are Arab countries. Egypt ranks third, after China and Hong Kong. Year-to-date through April, exports to Egypt came out to 27,030 tons and USD 88.19 million, down 44.3% and 32.18% from a year ago;<\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia stepped up its imports, placing fifth at 17,090 tons and USD 73.54 million, up 15.94% and 50.54%.<\/p>\n

The United Arab Emirates were the sixth biggest importer of Brazilian beef, at 13,040 tons and USD 52.11 million, down 57.74% and 53.27%.<\/p>\n

Algeria has been buying more and more beef from Brazil. It ranked 13th<\/sup> at 6,780 tons and USD 28.66 million, up 23. 98% and 48.7%.<\/p>\n

Libya was another highlight buyer, placing 16th<\/sup> at 5,320 tons and USD 17.43 million, up 60.42% and 81.65%.<\/p>\n
