S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> donated this Thursday morning (11) 500 color cloth face coverings for children and teenagers at child cancer treatment facility Itaci<\/a>. Chamber director Claudia Yazigi Haddad and Marketing analyst Marina Machado made the delivery on behalf of the organization (pictured above<\/em>).<\/p>\n

The donation did not draw on funds from the Chamber\u2019s ongoing crowdfunding campaign<\/a> to help fight Covid-19. The coverings were donated by entrepreneurs Ana Racy, Maria Isabel Lati and Christiane Baeta on behalf of the Arab Chamber Women\u2019s Committee.<\/p>\n

According to Haddad, the Chamber will undertake other similar actions in the weeks ahead. \u201cThe Chamber wouldn\u2019t want to keep its arms crossed in the face of this pandemic, and so there\u2019s this philanthropic side that we are working on,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Located in Pinheiros, S\u00e3o Paulo, Itaci is a public hospital established via a partnership involving Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Crian\u00e7a, A\u00e7\u00e3o Solid\u00e1ria Contra o C\u00e2ncer Infantil (ASCCI) and the Children\u2019s Institute at USP Medical School\u2019s Hospital das Cl\u00ednicas.<\/p>\n

The coverings were accepted by Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Crian\u00e7a manager Douglas Boscato. The children and teenagers undergoing cancer treatment are more vulnerable to coronavirus. Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Crian\u00e7a provides comprehensive healthcare to kids, particularly in clinical and surgical pediatrics and hematology-oncology.<\/p>\n

Itaci was established 18 years ago in a bid to provide more adequate facilities and new equipment for the treatment of patients formerly at Instituto da Crian\u00e7a. It has since become a go-to facility for children and teenagers with cancer and other rare or hematological conditions.<\/p>\n
