The National Anti-Coronavirus Committee convened this Wednesday (10) in La Kasbah to discuss necessary measures leading up to the reopening, <em>Tunis Afrique Presse<\/em> (<em>TAP<\/em>) reported, in a meeting chaired by prime minister Elyes Fakhfakh. <em>Pictured is the island of Djerba<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Health said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tap.info.tn\/en\/Portal-Top-News-EN\/12768397-covid-19-tunisia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no new cases<\/a>\u00a0were reported on Wednesday (10). So far, 989 patients have recovered, and 49 patients are still under care. According to the Ministry, there have been 49 deaths from coronavirus in Tunisia.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee discussed prevention measures to ensure successful completion of the last leg in the country\u2019s phased exit from the lockdown. The curfew ended on Monday (8), and the lockdown is expected to be lifted on June 15.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting saw the Committee assess the evolution of the pandemic and the progress made thus far with the nationwide lockdown strategy. The government believes Tunisia has reached an advanced stage of control over the pandemic. <em>TAP<\/em> reported that over 20 provinces have seen zero cases in the last 40 days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#ReadyAndSafe campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The reopening date predates the season that sees tourists and expatriates flock to Tunisia. In a bid to publicize this feat, Tunisia\u2019s tourism bureau Discover Tunisia created the #ReadyAndSafe campaign. Tourism and Handicrafts minister Mohamed Ali Toumi explained in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oeDn4ZfbNJE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">video<\/a>\u00a0how Tunisia tackled the pandemic and what lies ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Another video (see below) outlines the rules for hotels, restaurants and other tourist-related establishments.
