{"id":279251,"date":"2020-08-26T13:04:05","date_gmt":"2020-08-26T16:04:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=279251"},"modified":"2020-08-26T13:30:43","modified_gmt":"2020-08-26T16:30:43","slug":"egypt-sold-usd-3-4-billion-in-treasury-bills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/egypt-sold-usd-3-4-billion-in-treasury-bills\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt sold USD 3.4 billion in Treasury bills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) sold EGP 55.4 billion (USD 3.4 billion) worth of Treasury Bills (T-Bills) in four auctions on Sunday and (23) Monday (24), newspaper <a href=\"http:\/\/english.ahram.org.eg\/NewsContent\/3\/12\/378615\/Business\/Economy\/Egypts-central-bank-attracts-EGP--billion-in-inves.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Al Ahram<\/em><\/a>\u00a0reported on its website this Wednesday (26).<\/p>\n<p>The funds will help address Egypt\u2019s budget deficit. Last July, Finance minister Mohamed Maait disclose that the 2019\/2020 fiscal year ended June had seen revenue decline by EGP 125 billion (USD 7.8 billion) as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Quoting the Cabinet Information Centre, <em>Al Ahram<\/em> said expenditure will be up 6% to EGP 1.7 trillion (USD 106.7 billion) in 2020\/2021 from EGP 1.6 trillion (USD 100 billion) in 2019\/2020.<\/p>\n<p>Revenue is expected to climb 18% to EGP 1.3 trillion (USD 81.6 billion) from EGP 1.1 trillion (USD 69 billion) in 2019\/2020.
