S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Cargo Logistics Terminal (Teca) at Manaus International Airport, in Amazonas state, registered an increase of 13.2% in product throughput in the first seven months of this year, when compared to the same period in 2007. The cargo movements in the airport totalled 89,097 tonnes of cargo, against 78,703 tonnes from January to July last year. This information was disclosed yesterday (07) by the Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company (Infraero).<\/p>\n
With this result, Teca\/Manaus is in the third place in product throughput among other logistics terminals belonging to Infraero, just behind the units at S\u00e3o Paulo International Airport \/Guarulhos and Viracopos International Airport\/Campinas (both in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo).<\/p>\n
According to Infraero, the greatest growth was identified in the throughput of domestic cargo, which grew 21.9%. From January to July, cargo throughput totalled 30,985 tonnes, against 25,406 in the same period last year. This total includes products going to other states that enter the country through the Teca.<\/p>\n
Shipments of cargo to the rest of Brazil grew 14.1%, which represented the second most expressive growth in the seven first months of the year. This activity, which consists of the cargo coming from the Industrial Hub of Manaus, had a throughput of 29,684 tonnes, against 25,999 tonnes in 2007.<\/p>\n
With regard to cargo movement from abroad, the Teca registered growth of 8.8%. Shipments arriving reached 25,196 tonnes, against 23,155 in the first seven months of last year.<\/p>\n
