{"id":283021,"date":"2020-10-22T18:47:08","date_gmt":"2020-10-22T21:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=283021"},"modified":"2020-10-22T18:47:08","modified_gmt":"2020-10-22T21:47:08","slug":"exchange-with-arab-countries-could-be-broader-vp-mourao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/exchange-with-arab-countries-could-be-broader-vp-mourao\/","title":{"rendered":"Exchange with Arab countries could be broader: VP Mour\u00e3o"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 \u201cBrazil is committed to growing and advancing cooperation in trade with the Arab Countries,\u201d said Hamilton Mour\u00e3o, the vice president of Brazil, during the wrap-up of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forumcamaraarabe.com.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Economic Forum Brazil &amp; Arab Countries<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He said Brazil\u2019s exports to Arab League countries amounted to USD 12.2 billion last year; that all Arab countries combined are Brazil\u2019s third biggest export destination, trailing only China and the United States; and that they are major importers of agribusiness products from Brazil, first and foremost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s room for broader economic exchange,\u201d he argued, before going on to say that the administration is working on building trust-based relationships and on \u201ccreating a political environment conducive to the expansion and diversification of relations with the countries in that region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The vice president also said Arab countries have \u201csizeable investments\u201d in Brazil. \u201cThere\u2019s significant growth potential in partnerships in industries such as agribusiness, infrastructure, transportation, energy, defense, science, technology, innovation, tourism, and the medical-hospital industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mour\u00e3o asserted that the Investment Partnership Program (PPI, in the Portuguese acronym) is a \u201cgreat opportunity to cooperate in new areas of interest,\u201d and that Gulf countries including the UAE, Oman and Qatar possess \u201cadvanced infrastructure and legal frameworks tailored towards special economic zones, such as export processing zones, which can make it easier for Brazilian products to reach other markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere certainly is a great degree of complementarity between Brazil and the Arab countries.
