The Brazilian designer Sandro Barros told ANBA the deal was closed during his participation in the Arab Fashion Week. The event took place online from October 21 to 24 and brought together Brazilian designers.

The collection presented at the Arab Week brough winter clothes designed for the Arab client, and the designer made a positive assessment of his presence in the event. “I had a great impression; I was delighted with their professionalism. Since the event, we now have a point of sale in Dubai, AAVVA, the luxury studio which will feature Atelier Sandro Barros with exclusivity in the UAE,” Barros said about AAVVA Fashion, co-owned by designer Vincenzo Visciglia.

The garments presented at the Arab Week were made of velvet, lamé, tulle, brocade and lace

The designer explains that this is the first time his pieces will be sold out of Brazil. “We never exported before. Our clients from Angola, Dubai, Switzerland, Spain, France, Belgium and UK come to Brazil to try on the dresses in our studio. The only point of sale is AAVVA in Dubai now,” he said.

Barros says he always preferred to participate in few fashion shows but made an exception to be for the first time at the Arab event. “In my 18-year career as a Brazilian haute-couture designer I did only five fashion shows, as I pursue exclusivity for my clients and the celebration of special dates in my story. It was a long-life dream to present my work in the Arab world, and this invitation was an honor,” he declared.

The inspiration in the Arab people was already part of Barros’ work, and he was finally able to go further in this. “My show was a declaration of love for the Arab culture and my Arab-descendant clients in Brazil. And this love is present in all moments of my life, my home, my dinner parties, my wedding, and my friends. The next step will be learning the language,” the designer said.

For the designer, the show was an opportunity to profess his love for the Arab culture

The collection presented in the UAE event included pieces made of velvet, lamé, tulle, brocade, and lace. The embroidery was made of crystals, beads, micro-sequins, and plumes. Details thought for the Arab community and the Syrian- and Lebanese-descendant clients he serves in Brazil. For him, the community in Brazil and the Arab women share similar tastes in shapes and colors and an appreciation of manufacture and exclusivity.

The online format of the event made it possible for the pieces to be seen from anywhere in the world, a good thing in the designer’s eyes. This cosmopolitan side is exactly what Barros seeks to bring about though his creative process, which was born from his travels across the world. “The Arab culture has always been present in my collections, in the embroidery inspired in the tiles and mosaics, the ceramic, the fabrics, and the old caftans that Bruno [Astuto, husband] collect. We found many in antique shops, with silver and gold embroideries, real jewels. In this collection presented in Dubai, we can see the Arab motives translated into silver and pearl embroideries, the black and gold and ruby cashmeres, and the golden brocades,” the designer detailed.

The Brazilian designers that participated in the Arab Fashion Week were part of Brazil Noble, a Brazilian luxury fashion promotion project in the Middle East. The project is led by High Class Corporate Services, AAVVA Fashion, Cia Paulista de Moda and Rejane Silva, who was the ambassador of the event in Dubai.
