S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) is hosting on Wednesday (2) the online webinar \u201cEgypt and Brazil \u2013 Opportunities and Partnerships,\u201d at 9 am, Bras\u00edlia time (2 pm, Cairo time). Simultaneous translation into English and Portuguese will be available. Registration is open<\/a> and the event is free of charge.<\/p>\n

Brazil-Egypt relations have proved solid and continued to thrive even in the face of adversity, like the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The entry into force of the Mercosur-Egypt free trade agreement caused Egypt\u2019s exports to increase by over 200%. The agreement ushered in customs tariff exemptions on items including plants, mineral oils, lime and cement. Products such as garlic and olives are also mainstays of trade.<\/p>\n

The webinar will delve into the Mercosur-Egypt agreement and the outlook for the next few years. It will also address new relevant aspects of trade, the work agenda, and prospective partnerships straddling the regions at hand.<\/p>\n

The event will open with ABCC president Rubens Hannun; the head of Commercial Promotion at the Embassy of Brazil in Cairo, minister-counselor Rubem Mendes de Oliveira; Egypt\u2019s ambassador to Brazil, Wael Ahmed Kamal Aboulmagd; and the head of the Egyptian Economic and Commercial Office in S\u00e3o Paulo, Noha Syam.<\/p>\n

Egyptian Exporters Association (Expolink) chairman Khaled El Mikati will provide an overview of Egypt\u2019s exports to Brazil and Latin America in 2020 and of the strategy for the years ahead.<\/p>\n

The Egyptian Ministry of Industry\u2019s director-general for Bilateral Trade Agreements, Michael Gamal, will discuss regulation and rules of origin concerning the fertilizer and chemicals industry within the scope of the Mercosur-Egypt agreement.<\/p>\n

Opportunities, up-and-coming sectors, and the partnership agenda for Brazil and Egypt will be covered by ABCC Market Intelligence coordinator Marcus Vin\u00edcius and Egypt Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council vice president Mostafa Sherif El Gabaly.<\/p>\n

The agricultural attach\u00e9 at the Embassy of Brazil in Cairo, Cesar Simas Teles, will go over opportunities and challenges in the agribusiness industry. The event will be moderated by ABCC secretary-general Tamer Mansour.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is yet another really important event when it comes to enhancing Brazil\u2019s and the Mercosur\u2019s relations with Egypt. It is crucial to discuss the developments of the Mercosur-Egypt free trade agreement, since Egypt\u2019s exports to Brazil are going strong when it comes to items such as garlic, oranges and olives, and also because Egypt is a promising market for Brazilian goods,\u201d said Mansour.<\/p>\n

He said the webinar will also cover the ABCC\u2019s partnership with the Confederation of Brazilian Trade Associations (Confedera\u00e7\u00e3o das Associa\u00e7\u00f5es Comerciais Brasileiras<\/em> \u2013 CACB<\/em>) for online issuance of certificates of origin concerning the shipping of goods to Egypt.<\/p>\n
