Called \u201cThe Crisis in Contemporary Lebanon: Politics, Economy, and Social Protests,\u201d the course started on January 25 and runs until February 1st, but previous classes can still be watched. <em>Pictured above, a worker removes chemicals from Beirut Port.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The initiative is supported by the Arab House, the <strong>Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong>\u2019s Arab culture space. The two-hour classes start at 10am, and two have alreadytaken place, on Monday (25) and Wednesday (27). The other classes will take place next Friday (29) and Monday (1st).<\/p>\n<p>Teaching the classes is professor dr. Rodrigo Ayupe, who gives Anthropology classes and is a researcher at the Center for Middle East Studies (Neon) at the Federal Fluminense University (UFF). Topics addressed include Lebanese history since the civil war, state matters, economic crisis, riots, as well as COVID-19, as well as the Beirut Port blast as exacerbating factors.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more: <a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/school-magazine-join-efforts-to-spread-arab-culture\/\">School, magazine join efforts to spread Arab culture<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The school Integra Educa\u00e7\u00e3o Avan\u00e7ada and magazine Di\u00e1spora have opened registrations for another course, \u2018The Curds: Nation and Diaspora,\u2019 with professor and researcher Tiago Duarte Dias of UFF and Uppsala University in Sweden. The classes run from January 22-29 and February 5-12 from 6pm to 8:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>In both courses, the classes can be watched another time as they remain available for 90 days. The professor can be reached later, too, for questions and comments.
