A decree made public early this week on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.in.gov.br\/en\/web\/dou\/-\/decreto-n-10.605-de-22-de-janeiro-de-2021-300423701\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Official Gazette<\/a>\u00a0mandates the establishment of a work group to devise the strategy.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply said the effort is intended to increase manufacturing and availability of domestically made fertilizer, to minimize reliance on imported product, and to add competitiveness to Brazilian agribusiness products in international markets. According to the Ministry, Brazil relies on imports for some 60% of its fertilizer needs.<\/p>\n<p>The plan will be drafted with input from officials in the Special Secretariat on Strategic Affairs of the Presidency, the Chief of Staff\u2019s Office and the ministries of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply; Economy; Infrastructure; Mines and Energy; Environment; and Science, Technology and Innovation; the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa). The Institutional Security Cabinet, and the Attorney General\u2019s Office.
