{"id":289450,"date":"2021-03-03T16:15:20","date_gmt":"2021-03-03T19:15:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=289450"},"modified":"2021-03-05T12:39:22","modified_gmt":"2021-03-05T15:39:22","slug":"a-brazilian-playing-qatar-table-tennis-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/a-brazilian-playing-qatar-table-tennis-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"A Brazilian playing Qatar table tennis competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazilian table tennis athlete Hugo Calderano (<em>pictured above<\/em>) defeated his fellow countryman Gustavo Tsuboi in the first round of the WTT Contender in Doha, Qatar and moved into the round of 16 of the first major table tennis event in the year.<\/p>\n<p>After a balanced match on Wednesday (3), Calderano beat Tsuboi 3 to 1 at 12-8, 8-11, 12-10.\u00a0 Currently ranked 6<sup>th<\/sup> worldwide, Calderano is the only Brazilian to remain in the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Calderano\u2019s next game will be with South Korea\u2019s Jaehyun An on a date and time yet to be set. They will play Spain\u2019s Alvaro Robles and Romenia\u2019s Ovidiu Ionescu. After a promising campaign in the Preliminary stage, Ishiy was eliminated last night (2) after a close game against Italy\u2019s Michail Bobocica.
