So said Brazil\u2019s agricultural attach\u00e9 in Cairo, Cesar Simas Teles (<em>pictured above<\/em>) during the webinar \u201cHow to Export to Brazil,\u201d targeted at food producers in the Arab country. The event was hosted by Egypt\u2019s Agricultural Exports Council (AEC) this Wednesday (10).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me, garlic is the main product at the moment. There is a huge opportunity. Brazil\u2019s garlic suppliers right now are China, Argentina, Spain, and then Egypt,\u201d he said, noting that import tariffs are levied on sales from China to Brazil, which means Egyptians could increase their foothold.<\/p>\n<p>The attach\u00e9 also believes the pandemic may have led to increased demand, since consumers see garlic as a health-promoting product. \u201cBrazil imports half its garlic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_289813\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-289813\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/tamermansour-300x200-1.jpeg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-289813 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/tamermansour-300x200-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-289813\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mansour was featured in the webinar hosted by the AEC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce secretary-general Tamer Mansour, who spoke during the seminar, said Egypt had a 13% share of Brazil\u2019s garlic market in 2020, with sales amounting to USD 6.64 million during the year.<\/p>\n<p>Cesar Simas Teles said frozen strawberries are another promising export option. Brazil imported USD 9.8 million worth of the product in 2019, and Egypt was its sixth biggest supplier, according to the attach\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Teles also mentioned that Egypt was recently cleared to ship citrus fruits to Brazil. In 2019 alone, citrus imports to Brazil came out to USD 35.8 million. \u201cI must stress the potential of two products: grapes and citrus fruits. These are premium markets.
