So said Brazil\u2019s Claudia Massei (<em>pictured above<\/em>), CEO of Siemens Oman, during the webinar \u201cWomen\u2019s leadership and business resumption.\u201d The event was hosted last Tuesday (30) evening by LIDE Mulher and supported by the <strong>Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC)\u2019s women\u2019s committee WAHI.<\/p>\n<p>The online meeting was part of the LIDE Mulher Talks, which invites businesswomen to discuss different topics. The event featured Nadir Moreno, chair of Lide Mulher UPS Brasil delivery company; Celia Pompeia, executive vice president of Doria Group and vice chair of Lide Mulher; and Geovana Quadros, a member of the Lide Mulher board. In addition to Massei, the event also featured talks by Alessandra Frisso, WAHI chair and H2R Pesquisas Avan\u00e7adas commercial director; and Patricia Molino, partner and Culture and Change manager of KPMG Brazil.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_290676\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-290676\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-290676\" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/alessandra-wahi-lide-300x156.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"156\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/alessandra-wahi-lide-300x156.jpg 300w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/alessandra-wahi-lide-1024x532.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/alessandra-wahi-lide-768x399.jpg 768w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/alessandra-wahi-lide.jpg 1277w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-290676\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Frisso pointed out Brazilian and Arab women face many shared challenges<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For Massei, even in companies that have gender quotas in the board, there are some gaps between the lowest and highest ranks in the women\u2019s career. \u201cI believe it helps, but, in these cases, you actually have some women in the highest positions and many women in the lowest positions. But you have a gap in middle management. I believe there should be a gap in the whole ladder. But having women in the board helps. There she can help breaking down prejudices and bias,\u201d the executive pointed out.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_290685\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-290685\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-290685\" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/nadir-wahi-lide-300x142.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/nadir-wahi-lide-300x142.jpg 300w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/nadir-wahi-lide-1024x486.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/nadir-wahi-lide-768x364.jpg 768w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/nadir-wahi-lide.jpg 1370w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-290685\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nadir Moreno, chair at LIDE Mulher and UPS Brasil delivery company<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Frisso agrees that the lack of opportunities is a setback for the women\u2019s professional rise. \u201cFor women, the gap between the operational and the management level and then the strategic level makes the ladder hard to climb as it\u2019s almost vertical,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Having worked in other countries such as Germany, Massei currently lives in the Gulf and believes there\u2019s still much room for women to rise in the region. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to talk about women\u2019s leadership when you don\u2019t have many examples of it, but the few examples we have here are simply amazing. You realized that, for women to be successful here, they have to make a greater effort than men. I believe the pandemic brough about a disruption as it evidences the risk. The caregivers are in the frontline. And when this work increases, it largely falls on women. We also know that, in times of crisis, minority rights are endangered. Many women have simply quit because they couldn\u2019t do this without support.
