S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) delivered 200 food kits in S\u00e3o Paulo late last week and earlier this week, as part of a social responsibility campaign launched in late March to help fight hunger, which has been made worse by the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The campaign was rolled out on March 25, Arab Community Day, during an online event hosted by the ABCC and the Arab House. People from across Brazil donated, as did ABCC staff and board members. The deliveries made in the past few days were the first ones made, with more to follow.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe campaign\u2019s first food kit donation went to the community of Brasil\u00e2ndia, which showed much gratitude. The ABCC also donated the equivalent of 100 food kits to the S\u00e3o Paulo City Hall\u2019s Cidade Solid\u00e1ria program that will be delivered to the Red Cross,\u201d says Claudia Yazigi Haddad, an ABCC director who\u2019s also in the board of the ABCC\u2019s women\u2019s committee, WAHI \u2013 Women Who Inspire, which is supporting the campaign. In launching the campaign, Claudia remarked that it has been over a year since the pandemic began and that, although Brazilians are very resilient, many people are in a critical situation and have gone hungry. \u201cThe Arab Chamber could never overlook this situation, and it has launched yet another donation campaign,\u201d she said.
