The coordinator of the Syrian and Lebanese Heritage in Brazil Digitalization Project, Heloisa Abreu Dib Julien (<em>pictured above<\/em>), who\u2019s also a historian at the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP), will be one of the speakers.<\/p>\n<p>The project Mrs. Julien is running is a tandem initiative from the <strong>Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) and Lebanon\u2019s Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), designed to document and digitalize the history of Syrian and Lebanese immigration to Brazil. Speakers will also include Alberto Sismondini, of the University of Coimbra, whose subjects of study include Brazilian literature by Syrian-Lebanese authors, and the journalist and researcher Christina Queiroz, who holds a doctorate degree in Arab Studies from USP. The poet, critic and professor Michel Sleiman, who\u2019s part of the Tabla translator staff, will moderate the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>The debate <em>Um Olhar sobre a Literatura de Imigrantes: libaneses, s\u00edrios e descendentes no Brasil<\/em> (Immigrant Literature: Lebanese, Syrians and descendants in Brazil) is part of publishing house Tabla\u2019s Diaspora Cycle. It will cover recent literary output as well as books written Arabic in Brazil during the last century.
