{"id":292004,"date":"2021-04-27T17:02:04","date_gmt":"2021-04-27T20:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=292004"},"modified":"2021-04-28T18:42:39","modified_gmt":"2021-04-28T21:42:39","slug":"usp-named-one-of-best-universities-in-uae-ranking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/usp-named-one-of-best-universities-in-uae-ranking\/","title":{"rendered":"USP named one of best universities in UAE ranking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) was named the 105<sup>th<\/sup> best university in the world by the <a href=\"https:\/\/cwur.org\/2021-22.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for World University Rankings<\/a>\u00a0(CWUR), a consulting organization of the United Arab Emirates, which assessed 19,788 institutions from all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>USP moved down to places from last year but is still the best-ranked institution in Ibero-America, which comprises countries where Spanish or Portuguese are predominant languages in the continent. The institution that ranked 1<sup>st<\/sup> was the University of Harvard, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n<p>Published since 2012, the ranking uses four indicators: quality of education, measured by the number of a university\u2019s alumni who have won major academic distinctions relative to the university\u2019s size (25%); alumni employment (25%); quality of faculty (10%); and research performance (40%).<\/p>\n<p>Among these indicators, the Brazilian entity got its highest scores in research performance and quality of faculty. \u201cBeing among the top 0.6% universities in the world represents the recognition of our institutional efforts and gives us a major social visibility among our national and international peers, thus encouraging the academic interchange across all levels,\u201d USP dean was quoted as saying in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>In Brazil, after USP, the best-ranked universities were the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).<\/p>\n<p>Among the Arab countries, the best-ranked institution was King Abdulaziz University of Saudi Arabia at 278<sup>th<\/sup> and Cairo University at 546<sup>th<\/sup>.
