S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC), in partnership with the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) and the Brazilian National Association of Ceramic Tile Manufacturers (ANFACER), will hold this Wednesday (16) at 8:30 am BRT (2:30 pm AST), a workshop on the rules and norms for Brazilian ceramic sector entrepreneurs interested in exporting to Saudi Arabia. SASO is the primary regulatory entity for exports to Saudi Arabia. This should be one of several actions the ABCC will carry out along with the organization to guide Brazilian companies on the Saudi market. The event is free; ABCC and ANFACER members can register<\/a>. The meeting for Brazilian companies is called \u201cTechnical regulation for the export of ceramics and tiling sector products to Saudi Arabia\u201d and will be lectured in English. Saudi representatives will discuss the steps for product registration through the \u2018Quality Mark\u2019 and \u2018Saber\u2019 platforms, in addition to the technical requirements and the Saudi product safety program called \u2018Saleem.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cThe purpose of the workshop is to provide Brazilian companies in the ceramics and tiling sector with the steps to register their product on the platforms used by the Saudi regulatory body and answer any questions they may have. Companies in this sector are interested in exporting to Saudi Arabia, but there are barriers such as product registration. This is the first event with SASO, and the goal is to expand joint actions with other Brazilian sectors,\u201d said the Institutional Relations manager at the ABCC, Fernanda Baltazar, who will be moderating the workshop.<\/p>\n

Saso\u2019s three Saudi representatives will be Khaled Alfaiti, speaking about the Quality Mark platform; Abdullah Alsmair, addressing the Saber platform; and Mohammed Alotaibi, discussing product safety.<\/p>\n

Also participating will be the secretary-general at the ABCC, Tamer Mansour; the CEO of ANFACER, Maur\u00edcio Borges; and the advisor for the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) at the ABCC, Shaheen Ali Mohammed Shaheen. After SASO\u2019s presentation, the workshop will have 30 minutes for Q&A.<\/p>\n

SASO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saso is a government body coordinating activities related to standardization, metrology, and quality in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including setting Saudi standards for goods, products, and services and measuring and defining procedures for assessing and certifying compliance. SASO is also responsible for the Saudi Arabia Accreditation Committee (SAC), which accredits laboratories and certification organizations. In addition, SASO defines sampling, testing, and technical inspection methods and promotes quality management systems.<\/p>\n

The agency works closely with the private sector, other government agencies, consumer representatives, and other interested parties to develop quality infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, being a member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML), and the International Bureau of Weight and Measures (BIPM).<\/p>\n
