The Ministry of Infrastructure also reported that 29 public assets were conceded to the private sector.

“In the first half of the year, we had 51 works delivered. These deliveries were spread throughout the national territory, which shows the capillarity of the ministry. One of the goals is to integrate the territory and bring logistics to those who need it, inducing improvement in less developed regions,” said minister Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas.

Freitas said at a press conference that auctions were held for 22 airports, five port leases, and a railway concession. According to the minister, investors have highlighted the “quality of the projects and the balanced way risks are distributed.” He also stated that the advancements in the concession program and the review of regulatory frameworks were implemented amid an “adverse” scenario due to the pandemic.

By the end of this year, the Ministry of Infrastructure wants to go beyond 100 deliveries – a figure higher than the 92 made last year. In this scope is the goal of surpassing 2,000 kilometers of new paved, duplicated, and rebuilt highways.
