S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 A global survey carried out by Expo 2020 Dubai revealed 90% of Brazilian respondents believe countries should work together to solve challenges such as a global pandemic, while 86% said countries that were able to cope well with the COVID-19 crisis should help others that were not.<\/p>\n
Despite the breadth and diversity of topics, the survey showed global respondents are in tune with their beliefs in the power of sharing knowledge, communication, and collaboration.<\/p>\n
This is also reflected among Brazilian respondents; 61% said it is crucial to share knowledge, innovations, and insights to overcome humanity\u2019s most pressing issues. Three in five say greater collaboration between individuals and communities can help build a more prosperous future.<\/p>\n
The 2021 survey was conducted with over 22,000 people in 24 countries and explored how they feel in a world transformed by the pandemic. Carried out in partnership with Internet-based market research firm YouGov, the survey followed a similar study conducted in 2019, before COVID-19.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we learn to live in a transformed world and rebuild ourselves after the consequences caused by COVID-19, some things remain constant, such as our desire to bring communities closer and beyond borders, to enable progress through the exchange of knowledge, ideas and perspectives,\u201d said the minister of State for International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates and general director of Expo 2020 Dubai, Reem Al Hashimy. She stated a desire to see a new era of global cooperation preparing people to deal with real-world challenges in pursuit of sustainable prosperity for all.<\/p>\n
Read more:<\/em><\/p>\n The survey also sought to assess people\u2019s general perspective on the effect of the pandemic in Brazil. Data shows respondents remain surprisingly positive, with 61% considering themselves optimistic \u2014 above the global average of 47% \u2014 and 62% saying they are confident about Brazil\u2019s future when it comes to driving economic development and allowing individuals to respond to current and future needs.<\/p>\n Sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n Sustainability was one of the main themes of the survey, as the pandemic seemingly has raised awareness on the importance of environmental conservation. However, only 35% of respondents said they were hopeful about humanity\u2019s ability to tackle climate change, while 66% were optimistic about the world\u2019s sustainable future.<\/p>\n According to the data mentioned above, 37% cited the decrease in consumption of disposable or single-use plastics as one of the main actions they are likely to implement in the future (out of ten options). About 32% said they would integrate more walking and cycling into their daily lives as a top priority.<\/p>\n This focus will be in the Brazil Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which will have sustainability as its theme. \u201c<\/strong>The global survey, delivered to the world through the Expo 2020 Dubai platform, will serve as a global thermometer for the return to normalcy of life, which will come with hope and faith we will emerge stronger from the pandemic. In this sense, we believe the Expo will act as an important instrument, being the first major on-site event on a global scale,\u201d said the general commissioner of Brazil at Expo 2020 Dubai, Elias Rodrigues Martins Filho.<\/p>\n\n
