S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazilians living in Egypt will be able to quench their yearning for home flavors at the Farmers Market in Cairo\u2019s Maadi district on September 16. Coxinha, brigadeiro and p\u00e3o de queijo, among other dishes, will be on sale at the Market from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm EET. The Brazilian booth is organized by the Brazilian Community in Egypt<\/a> [Comunidade Brasileira no Egito] (CBE) organization. It will feature three exhibitors; Conex\u00e3o Gordice<\/a>, with coxinhas and other snacks; Sweet Brazil<\/a>, with brigadeiros, honey bread, and other pastries; and Mineirim<\/a>, with p\u00e3o de queijo.<\/p>\n

According to the CBE\u2019s Maadi district coordinator, Tatiana Hafez, the Farmers Market takes place every Thursday and is organized by the Community Services Association (CSA), a non-governmental organization (NGO) aimed at foreigners.<\/p>\n

This will be the second edition with the participation of Brazilian exhibitors. Pictured above, exhibitors at the first edition with a Brazilian booth.<\/em> According to Hafez, Brazilian expatriates are connected, and the community had the idea of bringing together businesses and selling their products at the Market.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Farmers Market is assembled at a community center aimed mainly at the expatriate population, although Egyptians also visit it. Before the summer, we put up a table with Brazilian products, including p\u00e3o de queijo, dulce de leche, carrot cake, and it worked very well, so we decided to gather more Brazilian exhibitors for this edition,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Hafez said they are trying to participate in the Farmers Market every month and bring more and more Brazilians to sell their products. The Brazilian is married to an Egyptian and has an ice cream and popsicle business, Gelato on Wheelz<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the Brazilian Embassy in Cairo, there are currently around 650 Brazilians living in Egypt. The Arab country is open to the entry of Brazilian tourists.<\/p>\n
