S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazil\u2019s footwear industry will take part in Expo 2020 Dubai, a world exhibition to take place in the United Arab Emirates starting Friday (1). In early November, the industry will have a special area in Brazil pavilion with an exhibition on the sustainability of the Brazilian footwear production and a special reception area for buyers invited by the group of participating companies.<\/p>\n

Until early September, registration was open for Brazilian companies interested in participating in the initiative, and ten companies were selected based on sustainability-related criteria. The group will consist of Beira Rio, Grendene, Usaflex, Bibi, Ramarim, Pegada, Klin, Piccadilly, Kidy, and Urban Flowers.<\/p>\n

Brazil pavilion will be located at the Sustainability district of the exhibition that will run through Marcy 31 2022. The footwear industry\u2019s activity will run from November 2 through 5 and is held by Brazilian Footwear, a footwear export support program developed by the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries (Abical\u00e7ados) and Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).<\/p>\n

Abical\u00e7ados Trade Promotion analyst Paola Pontin was quoted as saying in a news release that Brazilian Footwear will showcase at Expo 2020 its stance as major global footwear player and the profile of a sustainable footwear chain with successful cases of companies that have embraced sustainability as a business strategy.<\/p>\n

The industry will also show at Expo 2020 it has a sustainability certification, Sustainable Origin. According to Abical\u00e7ados, it\u2019s the world\u2019s only sustainability certification focused on footwear production companies. It considers several economic, environmental, social, cultural and sustainable management indicators. Several companies in Brazil have the certification, while others are implementing it.<\/p>\n
