The theme linking the projects is the connection of the works with the Pyramids. The event has the support of the Egyptian Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities and Foreign Affairs and is sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The artist and the work

Born in Brasília, the Brazilian artist has been participating in group and individual exhibitions since 2014. He was nominated for the 2019 and 2020 PIPA Awards, which honors works of visual arts. “My project is related to this thing of growing up to find the skies, but also other issues. The material I used is the sleeper; it has a memory and is part of the development of Egypt, the railway. And I treat the sleeper as if it were a body; it would be these workers who stand up and group together until they reach the top,” revealed the sculptor.

Sleepers, mentioned by Trevisan, are parts used in railways on which rails are fixed. The piece can be made from different materials like wood and steel. “My work consists of 75 stacked sleepers that look like a structure embracing an obelisk, but it is not there. The [concept is that] the obelisk was removed because, in Cairo’s history, several obelisks were taken [out of the country]. So, the structure is still present, regardless of the obelisk not being there,” detailed the artist.

Quick facts
‘Forever is Now’ exhibition
From October 21 to November 7
Great Pyramids of Giza
Learn more on: https://www.artdegypte.org/

Translated by Elúsio Brasileiro

Visual artist João Trevisan was selected to participate in the exhibition ‘Forever is Now,’ with the sculpture entitled “The body that rises.” The exhibition is taking place in the surroundings of the Giza Pyramids.

[114
9803,24918,30665,24916,3424,32444,24919,14082,24917,24915,3107
0":"post-301113","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-news","8":"tag-egypt-en","9":"tag-art-degypte-en","10":"tag-artista-brasileiro-en","11":"tag-brazilian-artist","12":"tag-exhibition","13":"tag-exposicao-en-2","14":"tag-forever-is-now-en","15":"tag-giza","16":"tag-great-pyramids","17":"tag-plastic-arts","18":"tag-sculpture
Visual artist João Trevisan was selected to participate in the exhibition ‘Forever is Now,’ with the sculpture entitled “The body that rises.” The exhibition is taking place in the surroundings of the Giza Pyramids.
["GET
