Dom Pedro carried out two missions, in 1871 and 1876.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition, which coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Brazilian emperor\u2019s first trip to Egypt, will be open for visitation from November 3 to 30, at the Gezira Art Center, in Zamalek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmperor Dom Pedro II loved to travel and collect photographs. He always showed his love for Egypt, which justifies being the first head of a country in the Americas to visit the Arab country twice. During his trips, he collected over 500 photos of Egypt. These images are an integral part of a collection of more than 20,000, maintained by the Brazilian National Library Foundation, located in Rio de Janeiro, and chosen by UNESCO to be included in the list of the Memory of the World Register Program,\u201d Patriota revealed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_301656\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-301656\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/patriota-11.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-301655 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/patriota-11-300x181.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/patriota-11-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/patriota-11-768x462.jpg 768w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/patriota-11.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-301656\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>The exhibition will be open until November 30<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cDuring his travels through Egypt, from Alexandria to Abu Simbel, later heading to Wadi Halfa (now Sudan), the Brazilian emperor reported in his diaries everything he experienced. Recently recognized by UNESCO, these journals will be part of the exhibition,\u201d said the ambassador. UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis exhibition is a fascinating artistic presentation from the perspective of its invaluable content, including 92 pictures of historic landmarks, buildings, mosques, Pompey\u2018s Pillar in Alexandria, the Nile, among other archaeological sites, as well as 11 information panels describing both visits by the emperor to Egypt,\u201d said the head of the Plastic Arts department at the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, Khaled Sorour, at the opening of the exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese photos were captured by distinguished photographers from France and Brazil, such as Antonio Beto and Pascal Seba, and describe Egypt\u2019s political, social, and economic life in the years 1871 and 1876, representing an opportunity for researchers, students, and historians,\u201d concluded Souror.<\/p>\n<p>The book by Brazilian researcher Roberto Khatlab, \u201cThe travels of Pedro II: Middle East and North Africa, 1871 and 1876 [As viagens de D. Pedro II: Oriente M\u00e9dio e \u00c1frica do Norte, 1871 e 1876]\u201d was a reference for the creation of the exhibition.
